Street Level Youth Care
Caring for Cairns Youth
Street Level Youth Care (SLYC) is an outreach program dedicated to supporting homeless and disadvantaged young people under 21 in Cairns. The heart of this ministry is simple: providing a hot meal, a cold drink, and a listening ear to those who need it. Many young people in our city go without regular meals, and SLYC exists to meet that basic need with kindness and dignity.
What SLYC Does
Three nights a week—Monday, Wednesday, and Friday—volunteers head out to Harald Falge Park to serve meals. Everything we give is donated by generous individuals and businesses, and our volunteers prepare and distribute the food completely free of charge.
We know that a warm meal can be more than just food—it can be a sign of care, a moment of comfort, and a way to build connections. While we are not a counselling service, our volunteers are always ready to offer encouragement and a friendly conversation to those who stop by.
